Our brand

“MODUS” Przedsiębiorstwo Odzieżowe S.A. has been producing high-quality uniforms, suits and corporate clothing for over 70 years. It is one of the biggest businesses of this type in Poland. It produces about 60,000 trousers and 50,000 jackets annually. It delivers its products to 100 Polish institutions and exports them to more than 15 countries all over the world.

Despite the production size, the company ensures an individual approach to its clients and takes care of the high quality of its services, which is confirmed by the ISO 14001:2015 certificates and implemented system ISO 9001:2015, AQAP 2110:2016.

Many professions require that their representatives wear specific clothing, which is not only supposed to be of high quality but also to constitute a trademark of the given unit. Not only does it have to be elegant, but it needs to meet the functional requirements for a given position. A policeman, soldier, railwayman or businessman wear their clothing every day and thus represent their employer. We find it very important that such clothing be comfortable and ergonomic. It needs to be adequate to the seasons of the year and pass the test for various climate conditions. Therefore, producing such clothing is an extraordinarily demanding task. It is a challenge for a clothing producer and few companies are able to meet such requirements. MODUS listens closely to the needs of its clients and meets all their expectations.

OUR HISTORY

1945

Zakłady Przemysłu Odzieżowego “MODUS” in Bydgoszcz started its production activity as a state-governed enterprise in 1945. It incorporated several small divisions spread across the city. At that time “MODUS” had 12 separate production, support and employee welfare units located in old buildings. The production units were equipped with all kinds of obsolete sewing machines and hand-operated irons. For this reason the production methods at that time differed from craft tailoring to a very little extent. It was only in 1961 that the new production site at ul. Lenartowicza 33 was commissioned. It enabled the consolidation of all production and support units and improved the labour conditions.

1965

The new building was being gradually equipped with modern machines and production devices. The fixing of the first steam machines for the ironing and shaping of clothes in 1965 was a milestone in mechanisation of work in the sewing rooms. Those machines eliminated the cumbersome and time-consuming hand ironing.

1967

In 1967 the enterprise started to run a commercial activity in the form of a clothing shop.

1971-76

In 1971 “MODUS” took over Zakład Przemysłu Odzieżowego “ORMII” from Miłosław and in 1976 it took over a production unit located in Inowrocław from ZPO “TORPO” from Toruń.

1988

In the 1980s a new unit specialising in headgear production was built. The building was commissioned in 1988. It replaced the cramped production rooms located in the old building.

1992

In 1992 a clothing wholesale shop was opened which was supposed to increase sales and compete more effectively by offering better prices. In the same year, the state-owned enterprise called Zakłady Przemysłu Odzieżowego “MODUS” was divided into four independent enterprises called:

  • Przedsiębiorstwo Odzieżowe "MODUS” in Bydgoszcz,
  • Przedsiębiorstwo Odzieżowe "MODINA" in Inowrocław,
  • Przedsiębiorstwo Odzieżowe "MIKON" in Miłosław,
  • Zakłady Przemysłu Odzieżowego "PIŁA" in Piła

1994

Two years later, on 01 August 1994, the state-owned enterprise was transformed into a company wholly owned by the State Treasury. In the same year, the company styled “MODUS - SUBIEKT” S.A., whose main shareholder became “MODUS” S.A., was established on the basis of the existing wholesale shop in order to increase market sales.

1995

On 12 September 1995 the company shares were contributed to VI NFI Magna Polonia.

2000

In 2000 “SUBIEKT” S.A. and the existing shops were re-incorporated into “MODUS” S.A.

From 1996 to 2000 the enterprise’s finances, property and organisation were restructured. Decisions were made to sell the redundant fixed assets including mainly immovable property, employment was cut, there was a private, non-public issue of bonds.

2003

On 27th November 2003 Magna Polonia entered into an agreement to sell all its shares in “MODUS” S.A. The shares were purchased by two natural and one legal person. The share capital structure was changed also in 2005. The State Treasury sold its shares for the benefit of one legal and one natural person.

2005

In 2005 the immovable property located at ul. Lenartowicza was sold and a property located at ul. Św. Trójcy was purchased. Having conducted modification works to adapt the building to the business activity requirements, the company started its activity at the new site in 2006.

2016

Now “MODUS” S.A. is one of the biggest men’s clothing producers in Poland. It specialises first and foremost in sewing uniforms, business and corporate clothing.
